Africa-Press – Tanzania. Zanzibar President, Hussein Ali Mwinyi directed the Zanzibar Water Authority (ZAWA) to supply clean and safe water to six sub-villages in the neighborhood of Muungoni and Kitogani by July 30, this year.
Dr Mwinyi gave the directives on Saturday when he visited and inspected the authority’s water plant located at Kitogani.
His Excellency ordered the ZAWA to fast track water connection in the mentioned areas since they have an option of linking the project with Ras el Hemma plant, capable of producing one million litres a day.
Additionally, the President told them to also fix new pipelines so as to provide efficient services.
Dr Mwinyi urged ZAWA management to ensure that areas under the water body are surveyed and issued with ownership certificates.
