Africa-Press – Tanzania. ZANZIBAR’s Minister for Agriculture, Irrigation, Natural Resources and Livestock, Mr Suleiman Masoud Makame, has laid the foundation stone for the construction of nine houses for prison officers at the Reformatory Training Centre in Hanyengwa Camp.

The project is among those being implemented as part of activities marking the 62nd anniversary of the Zanzibar Revolution.

Speaking during the ceremony, Mr Makame said the housing project would enhance work efficiency by providing safe and decent accommodation for prison officers, enabling them to perform their duties professionally and with patriotism.

He urged the beneficiaries to develop a strong culture of proper maintenance to ensure the sustainability of the houses.

Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of State, President’s Office – Regional Administration, Local Government and Special Departments, Mr Mikidadi Mbarouk Mzee, said the project would help address accommodation shortages among prison officers.

He noted that improved housing would contribute to better service delivery and improved welfare for officers serving at the training centre.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of the Training College, Mr Khamis Bakari, thanked the government for approving and supporting the project, saying the houses would significantly improve both the working environment and living conditions of prison officers, boosting morale and efficiency
