Africa-Press – Tanzania. WORKERS saving with the Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF) have been relieved from travelling to Fund’s office to seek services as they can now access them at their fingertips.
This follows a move by the PSSSF to launch Mobile App and member portal, which allows members and employers to access services such as getting their subscription information, verifying their details and their applications either using a mobile phone app or their computer.
“This is part of our plan to improve efficiency in serving our members and keeping with our commitment to deliver the services and information our members need in convenient manner,” said PSSSF Director-General, Mr Hosea Kashimba, during a seminar for prospective retirees for the year 2021/22 and 2022/23.
He said the new application is available for android devices through Google Play. Later it will be available to iPhone users, the download is free, and once installed, PSSSF members can log in to enable them access services they need.
Mr Kashimba said in improving the services for their members, PSSSF has a network of offices nationwide that gives services and a toll-free number for members to contact the fund.
“There is a complaint desk at all Fund offices as well as emails that are specific to members contacting the fund. Make use of all the resources to file complaints and other concerns,” he urged members.
The director said they believed the platform would curb pension scams that have for several years been a thorn to some retirees.
“These efforts are to ensure that we deal with grievances and provide better services to members,” he stressed.
Through the PSSSF member portal, employers can pay members’ contributions and receive receipts online.
Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability), Ms Jenista Mhagama urged the Fund to continue educating the public over basic issues such as membership contribution, payment of benefits and other important matters to consider while still in employment, during retirement and after retirement.
“These systems will help to reduce grievances and help retirees to track their entitlements without being plagued by fraudsters,” she said.
Ms Mhagama said it will help members to verify their information and know if their employers really submitted their contributions to the Fund.
