AfricaPress-Tanzania: Morogoro Regional Commissioner, Loata ole Sanare has instructed the Institute for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption (IPAC) in the region to monitor the use of more than Sh 500 million spent on the construction of Duthumi Health Center in Morogoro District Council.

Sanare issued the directive over the weekend during a working visit to inspect health and education sector development projects.

He issued the order while at the center to inspect the progress of its construction and to detect the presence of indicators of embezzlement.

He said President John Magufuli provided Sh500 million for the construction of health facility buildings and that the money was spent without completing the intended buildings.

He said despite the money provided by the president not to complete the buildings, the council added Sh 72 million from local revenue to complete the construction of the buildings.

He said once again the CEO added Sh 25 million to complete the work.

“Each health facility has been given Sh400 million and in some areas because of the distance they were given Sh500 million, and here there was a lot of embezzlement which led some people to take action and the additional Sh 100 million would be enough to complete all the necessary buildings,” he said Sanare.

During the visit to Duthumi Village, the people had the opportunity to present the challenges they face and asked Sanare to provide an ambulance for the Duthumi Health Center.

A resident of the village, Mwanahawa Mohamed, said despite the center serving the two divisions of Bwakila and Mvuha there is no ambulance so overcrowded patients are forced to seek a vehicle from the Tanzania Wildlife Authority (TAWA) or from the Ngerengere division which is far from the station. that.

They wanted another challenge that was for nurses to delay referring referrals to overcrowded patients to seek care at the district hospital level.

Acting Chief Physician of Duthumi Health Center, Kasole Maungo, acknowledged the challenge of the ambulance and said the office of the Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) intends to provide five ambulances and one of them will be sent to the center.
