LINDI: THE Tanzanian government, through the Rural Energy Agency (REA), has begun implementing a project to supply electricity to 159 sub-villages across all districts of the Lindi Region, for 25.8bn/-.

The project is expected to be implemented over 3 years and will benefit 5,593 households, as part of the government’s efforts to ensure access to electricity for rural communities.

Residents of the Lindi Region have said the project will help reduce the cost of running economic activities, increase production and household incomes, and improve overall living standards. They also expressed their appreciation to the government for continuing to extend electricity services closer to rural populations.
