Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Roads Fund Board has expressed satisfaction with the construction progress of JP Magufuli Bridge also known as Kigongo – Busisi Bridge in Misungwi and Sengerema districts in Mwanza region.
The Board Chairman, Mr Joseph Haule made the remarks on Thursday when the board members toured the project.
“We are satisfied with the progress of this project and the contractor has assured that the bridge will be completed in 2024, despite challenges facing its execution,” he said
He said the board is also satisfied with the equipment used in executing the project with preference on equipment produced within the country.
“The board will make sure that the bridge is protected upon completion so that it can last longer,” Mr Haule said.
He commended contractors and engineers of the project for their commitment in overseeing the project and others being implemented in various parts of the country.
On his part, consultant engineer of the project from Yooshin Company, Engineer Abdulkarim Majuto said that the project has reached 48.9 per cent.
He said the pace of the project is very good and satisfactory.
Eng Majuto said the contractor China Civil Engineering has installed cameras in the temporary bridge as efforts to intensify security.
Road Fund Board assistant Manager, Eng Rashid Kalimbaga said the main task of the board is to collect money for the repair of all roads under Tanzania National Roads Agency under (TANROAD) and Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA).
