Africa-Press – Tanzania. LEADERS of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) have congratulated President Samia Suluhu Hassan on her victory in the October 2025 General Election.
These remarks were made at the Extraordinary Virtual Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government, held online from Dodoma Region.
The summit commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her electoral success and the peaceful conduct of the elections.
On the other hand, the Tanzanian Vice President, Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, said the government led by President Samia has taken significant steps to restore national harmony and ensure that citizens live under the rule of law.
Dr Nchimbi made the remarks while representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
He emphasized that President Samia’s commitment is to ensure the success of the national reconciliation dialogue process, aimed at building a peaceful and united nation—continuing Tanzania’s legacy as a beacon of stability in Africa and the world.
The Vice President further noted that Tanzania remains peaceful and secure, ready to continue welcoming visitors from across the globe for the mutual benefit of all nations.
He also extended appreciation to SADC leaders who attended President Samia’s inauguration and those who sent warm congratulatory messages, assuring that the government will continue to work hard to sustain peace and foster development.
Additionally, the meeting discussed Madagascar’s withdrawal as SADC Chair, and South Africa was proposed to assume the interim chairmanship until August 2026.
The meeting was participated by Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of Malawi, Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, Hakainde Hichilema, President of Zambia and Emmerson Mnangagwa, President of Zimbabwe.
Representatives included Madagascar minister or foreign affairs Col. Michael Randrianirina (President of the Refoundation), Namibia Vice President Ms Lucia Witbooi, and Ambassador Téte António, Angola Minister of External Relations.
Others are Dr Phenyo Butale, Botswana Minister of International Relations, Senator Pholile Shakantu, Eswatini Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Floribert Anzuluni Isiloketshi, DRC Minister of Regional Integration, Mr Cristóvão Artur Chume, Mozambique Minister of National Defence, Mr Hambyrajen Narsinghen, Mauritius Junior Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional IntegrationTrade and from Seychelles Ambassador Mr Ian Madeleine, Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
