Africa-Press – Tanzania. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) nominated candidates from Malawi and Lesotho to compete for vacancies on the Board of Directors of the International Labor Organization (ILO).

When taking stock of the two days of work at the technical meeting of SADC experts, which preceded the meeting of ministers taking place this Wednesday, the director of the Legal and Exchange Office of the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security (MAPTSS ), David Kinjica, stated that the objective is to have greater representation of SADC in the aforementioned United Nations organization.

He stressed that in the organization the idea is to pass on priorities and agendas, as countries, with a view to obtaining greater technical and financial assistance from the ILO, for employment issues, especially the fight against child labor, one of the region’s priorities.

According to the source, Africa’s problem in the representation of these organizations is structural, which is why they united around the two countries, to avoid the dispersion of votes and support those chosen, hoping that on a rotating basis the other members will deserve the same attention in the future.

SADC is made up of 16 member states of the organization, namely Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, eSwatini, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
