Africa-Press – Tanzania. DIRECTORS of Criminal Investigations and security experts from member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) have convened in Dar es Salaam under the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) to discuss challenges related to transnational crime and to develop joint strategies for combating it.
Opening the meeting, Tanzania’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Camillus Wambura stated that the discussions will focus on various forms of international crime, including human trafficking, drug trafficking and abuse, terrorism, cybercrime, and financial crime.
IGP Wambura emphasized that the rise of modern crime requires strong and close cooperation among SADC member states in order to build collective strength to effectively address threats to regional security.
“Cross-border security challenges require true regional solidarity. Through forums like this, we gain the opportunity to share experiences, intelligence, and best investigative practices to ensure our region remains secure,” said IGP Wambura.
The meeting forms part of SADC’s broader efforts, through SARPCCO, to strengthen regional security by bringing together criminal investigation leaders and security experts to enhance coordinated strategies for fighting transnational crime.
