Samia inaugurates electrical factory in Dar

Africa-Press – Tanzania. President Samia Suluhu Hassan opened on Monday a 6.9tri/ electrical factory in Kigamboni calling her subordinates to refrain from business as usual to accommodate the pace of global investors into the country.

The factory is part of the Egyptian-based Elsewedy Electric.

President Samia said that it is high time staff work hard and embrace changes when executing their duties to ease the investment climate in the country, and not otherwise.

“If we were comfortable with investors investing up to 9 million USD … now the incoming ones are worth a lot of dollars, So the services you render, should correspond with the money they bring to us,” directed the head of state.

Elsewedy Electric Engineering Services Company is an Egyptian multinational electrical company that manufactures and sells integrated energy products.

The company revealed that it would invest in seven different projects including the electrical transformers, wires, and meters.

Equally, the Head of State assured the delegations that the government would fully facilitate the establishment of their investments, including creating a conducive and friendly environment as well as ensuring that business laws and policies are clear and not changed to ensure collective productivity for all.

“The comfort I have today and my happiness is to see our fellows who have come in numbers and among the 111 delegates…40 are big investors working across Africa… I will be surprised if we let them leave without even convincing half of them to invest here,” she insisted.

Earlier on the day, the president and Chief Executive Officer of Elsewedy Electric Engineering Services Company, Ahmed Elsewedy said that their target was to provide employment to Tanzanians and train them on how to manage the factories.

Initially, the factory is expected to employ some 500 people, who will be its backbone before expanding with 1000 workers upon completion.
