Africa-Press – Tanzania. Officially opening of East Africa’s longest bridge is one of the key projects President Samia Suluhu Hassan will inaugurate in her seven-day tour of Lake Zone regions.

President Samia is set to begin a seven-day working tour of Simiyu and Mwanza regions, where she will inspect and inaugurate mega development projects and engage with local communities.

The tour will commence in Simiyu Region from June 15 to 18, 2025 and conclude in Mwanza Region on June 21 this year, according to Gerson Msigwa, the government Spokesperson and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports.

During the tour, President Samia is expected to officially inaugurate several major infrastructure projects, including the highly anticipated project, Kigongo–Busisi Bridge, a landmark development poised to improve connectivity and economic activities in the Lake Zone.

On June 21, President Samia will also take part in the Bulabo Cultural Festival, set to be held in Mwanza. This will mark her second appearance at the festival, following her previous attendance in 2021.

Msigwa emphasized the importance of the tour, noting that it offers an opportunity for citizens to see the tangible progress being made through government investment.

“We urge all citizens to turn out in large numbers to welcome the President, listen to her key messages, and witness firsthand the transformative development projects being implemented across the regions,” said Msigwa.

Beyond her domestic engagements, President Samia is also scheduled to undertake official visits abroad in the coming weeks.

President Samia is expected to make official state visits to Mozambique and the Comoros Islands, where she has been invited as a guest of honour.

In Mozambique, President Samia will participate in events marking the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary.

Msigwa highlighted that her visit follows a recent visit by the President of Mozambique to Tanzania, signifying the close and historic ties between the two nations.

“The President’s visit to Mozambique aims to further strengthen the strong diplomatic and historical relationship founded by the nations’ respective founding leaders,” he stated.

In July, President Samia will travel to the Comoros Islands to attend commemorations marking the 50th anniversary of the Union of the Comoros.
