Africa-Press – Tanzania. POLICE in Rukwa Region have arrested five security guards including three SUMA JKT soldiers for allegedly beating to death a man whom they caught stealing.
Rukwa Regional Police Commander (RPC), William Mwampaghale told reporters over the matter during a press briefing meeting held here yesterday.
The RPC further confirmed that the incident occurred on September 08, this year at St Bakhita Health College in small town of Namanyere in Nkasi District.
Expounding, the RPC said the five suspects on that material night were on guard at the college when they spotted a man stealing from one of the building. They caught and severely beat him and, subsequently he succumbed to death.
“The five suspects turned violent and physically assaulted the man by kicking, punching and beating him with military clubs until he passed away” added the RPC.
Mr Mwampaghale said the suspects will be arraigned to court after preliminary investigations of their case are completed.
In another incident 13 cattle were reportedly died on spot after being hit by lightning while they were grazing.
The RPC explained that the incident occurred on September 09,this year at around 6:30 pm at Nkana village at Sintali Ward in Nkasi.
RPC confirmed that there were no any casualties reported so far from the scene of incident.
“These animals were grazing separately when the lighting struck them” added RPC.
