Africa-PressTanzania. SIMBA said the reason they have opted to invade Morocco for a pre-season camp is the availability of friendly football infrastructures which will give them desirable preparations.

The champions are set to leave the country this week for Morocco ahead of the busy schedule in the coming season whereby like last season, they will parade in three major contests.

The Reds will trade in the CAF Champions League, Mainland Premier League and Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) just like the way they did in the previous season.

Speaking yesterday in the city, the club’s Chairman Murtaza Mangungu said the Morocco trip will be made any day this week and more details are going to be disbursed soon.

“I believe that within this week, the team will depart for Morocco and as you know, our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is already in Morocco putting things together before the arrival of the team.

“There are many facilities we want and we want to give our players a conducive place for them to train properly before the start of the next term hence Morocco is an ideal place for now,” he said.

On whether or not they will engage in playing friendly matches, Mangungu replied that only the CEO is better placed to comment on such development and not him.

He also said most players reported for camp on Sunday ready to begin workouts ahead of the forthcoming season and that only a handful of them are yet to report.

However, among the players who have regrouped include Jonas Mkude who was sidelined throughout the final part of last season after being suspended for indiscipline conducts.

Mkude was once ordered by the club’s disciplinary committee to go for mental check-up at Muhimbili Hospital in Dar es Salaam due to what they claimed as repeated indiscipline cases done by the legendary midfielder.

Again, Perfect Chikwende who missed a couple of playing time last season is also among the players who joined the camp on Sunday to team up with his colleagues.

Simba had a blossom last season when they excelled to defend the top flight league title for the fourth consecutive time, reclaimed the ASFC twice in a row hence it is a puzzle if they will replicate the feat in the coming campaign.
