Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE newly appointed Simba Head Coach, Pablo Franco said he was pleased with the atmosphere of Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam where Taifa Stars hosted DR Congo on Thursday.
The Spanish coach who was accompanied by his right-hand man, Thierry Hitimana together witnessed the proceeding of the entire game at the venue.
In his brief remarks after the game, Franco said he was happy to be at the stadium and that the atmosphere inside was really amazing.
It was his first time to step into the 60,000-capacity venue which will be his regular spot as the arena is used as home ground for his new side in the Premier League matches.
He also had ample time to closely watch some of his players whom they will be working together at the club in the likes of goalkeeper Aishi Manula, center-back Kennedy Juma and full backs Shomari Kapombe and Mohamed Hussein.
Other Simba players who played on the day are Erasto Nyoni, Mzamiru Yassin, John Bocco and Kibu Denis who played well to impress their boss sitting at the VIP section of the venue.
However, his first competitive game will be versus Ruvu Shooting at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza on November 19th, with each side searching for vital three points after the 90 minutes of play.
Ruvu Shooting will approach the encounter with heads down after losing their previous match 3-1 to the league leaders Young Africans hence; they will be eager not to concede two back-to-back setbacks.
For Simba, momentum in the team is now high as they managed to produce a thin 1-0 win over Namungo in their recent league encounter which saw substitute Meddie Kagere heading home in the dying minutes of the clash.
This made the Reds to score a total of three goals in five appearances a feat which ironically mean that they are still having a blunt striking force as fast as putting the ball at the back of the net is concerned.
Another major test for Franco will be in the CAF Confederation Cup against Red Arrows of Zambia on November 28th in Dar es Salaam before a reverse leg on December 5th in Zambia.
The winner of the two-legged duel will walk straight into the group stage hence; a golden opportunity for Franco and his entire brigade to show how drilled they are.
