Africa-Press – Tanzania. IT was a sad weekend for Tanzania after their three envoys in the continental competition were knocked out.

Simba clashed out in the CAF Champions League on Sunday, following a 3-1 defeat from Jwaneng Galaxy at Benjamin Mkapa stadium in Dar es Salaam making an aggregate 3-3 but with an away goal benefit to the Botswana envoy Jwaneng Galaxy.

Simba will be waiting for the CAF Confederation playoff draw; if they secure an aggregate victory, they will progress to the Confederation group stage.

Simba SC was the only team left holding the key flag-waving card in the Champions League after Young Africans were knocked out last month by 2-0 aggregate by River United.

Other clubs that have been knocked out this weekend other than Simba include Azam FC and Biashara United.

The first 45-minutes in Sunday’s encounter looked like Simba would progress in the Champions’ League group stage; this was after Simba got an opening goal through Larry Bwalya in the 44th minute.

But things changed in the second half after the Jwaneng Galaxy coach Morena Ramoreboli brought in a deadly striker Rudath Wendell to replace Thabang Sesinyi. The changes brought fruits in the 46th and 60th minutes.

Both goals were due to poor marking of Simba’s defenders while Wendell got goals.

Gape Mohutsiwa scored the third goal for Botswana’s side four minutes before the game ended.

Simba did not make good use of their home stadium; de- spite playing calmly and controlling the middle terrain.

They were also better in defence in the first 45-minutes, led by two solid centre-backs Henock Inonga and Pascal Wawa.

However, due to defence, miscommunication brought terrible luck to the Tanzanian envoys in the second half. Compared to the first game at Botswana National Stadium in Gaborone, Simba seemed to have improved in speed and had better coordination, which caused threats to their opponent.

In addition, Simba were better, especially in attacking; they attempted shots outside the pen- alty box but Jwaneng Galaxy goalkeeper Ezekiel Morake pre- vented the danger.

For example, in Sunday’s game, Larry Bwalya made a long-range attempt shooting outside the penalty box, but Morake saved.

Simba were close to scoring in the 24th minute through a fierce shot by Shomari Kapombe, and the Galaxy goal- keeper saved.

Simba got another chance through Benard Morrison in a minute, but it was cleared off the danger. In the 34th minute, Sadio KanoutĂ© fired a powerful shot, which could have been Simba’s leading goal, but the goalkeeper saved.

Morison got another chance in the 38th minute, where he completed Kapombe’s set-piece with a header, but it went wide.
