Africa-PressTanzania. SIMBA’s doubletitle mission was accomplished after roaring to a 1-0 victory over their traditional rivals Young Africans at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma yesterday.

It was Simba’s second major silverware after clinching the ir fourth back to back Premier League title a few weeks ago.

2021 has been a banner year for Msimbazi Street Reds as besides clinching the country’s top thrones; the club also enjoyed a great campaign in the CAF Champions League, where they reached the quarter-final stage.

Yesterday’s victory over Yanga was also a sweet revenge to their rivals who beat them 1-0 in their last Premier League derby at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

It was Taddeo Lwanga’s goal that gave Simba victory after firing a bullet header past Yanga’s goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo at the 79th minute.

Lwanga’s perfect header was carved from Luís Miquissone excellent set-piece.

Lwanga was awarded the man of the match for his outstanding contribution to the victory of his club. His success has as well contributed to Simba third in a row title of ASFC.

Generally, it was a tight encounter as both sides showed quality and physique challenges.

However, due to the use of force and pressure from both sides, they picked several fouls.

The consequence of those fouls forced the referee to book Simba SC player three yellow while Yanga picked one red and yellow.

Simba players who were booked yellow included Clatous Chama, Joash Onyango and Taddeo Lwanga, while Yanga booked a red card from Mukoko Tonombe after being seen elbowing Simba’s skipper at the 44th minute of the game; and Zawadi Mauya, shown yellow.

Despite the incidents that resulted in fouls and punishment to both sides, some players showed quality and threat to the opposing team’s defences.

For instance, Yanga’s midfielder Tuisila Kisinda gave Mohammed Hussein of Simba a difficult time in each move he made.

One of the challenges Kisinda created was few seconds after the kickoff, where he splinted past Mohammed and would have caused harm to Simba if there had been a striker in the penalt box.

On Simba’s side Luís Miquissone was a threat to Yanga, as he repeatedly posed a danger to Yanga’s defender and forced them to commit several fouls against him.

Among the fouls made on him included Bakari Mwanyeto at the penalty box, but the referee denied him a foul.

Another incident was against Zawadi in the late minutes to complete the game and ended with Zawadi shown a yellow card.

Other outstanding player was Bernard Morrison where although he came in the second half to replace Larry Bwalya, he still posed a threat to Yanga’s defence line.

Among the close chances he had was through his foul strike that went wide a few meters above the wooden block.
