Africa-Press – Tanzania. SIMBA centre-back Wilson Nangu has undergone successful surgery in South Africa after suffering a serious Achilles tendon injury during the CAF Champions League clash against Espérance Sportive de Tunis.

The injury, described as devastating, forced Simba to seek specialised treatment abroad, with the procedure reported to have gone according to plan.

The club’s Media and Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally, confirmed the development, stressing that while the operation was successful, the defender faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

“The surgery was successful and the doctors are satisfied with the outcome. Unfortunately, he will be out for quite some time as he focuses on recovery,” Ally said.

He added that it is still too early to determine when Nangu will return to competitive action, with the club awaiting a comprehensive medical report.

“At this stage, we cannot confirm his return date. We are waiting for the team doctor’s full report, but it is clear he will be unavailable for a while,” Ally explained.

In further updates issued exclusively to the ‘Daily News’, Ally revealed that Mohammed Bajaber has begun fitness exercises and is progressing well in his rehabilitation programme.

“Bajaber has started fitness training and is responding positively. We expect him to return to the pitch at any time once he regains full match fitness,” he said.

However, the situation appears less promising for Moussa Camara and Abdulrazack Hamza, both of whom remain sidelined.

Ally admitted that there are concerns the pair could miss the remainder of the season.

“At the moment, Camara and Hamza are not ready. There is a real possibility they may be out for the rest of the campaign, but we continue to monitor them closely,” he noted.
