Africa-Press – Tanzania. SINGIDA: SINGIDA Big Stars missed a chance to unseat Simba on the third place of the Mainland Premier League table, after securing a 2-2 draw against JKT Tanzania at a home ground – Liti Stadium in Singida, yesterday.
The visitors netted first through Hassan Kapalata in the 26th minute to pile pressure on the hosts, who by this time, could not manage to threaten their opponents.
His goal was cancelled out in the 62nd minute by Marouf Tchakei, but six minutes later, the league’s newcomers increased their lead via Hassan Nasor Maulid.
In the 75th minute, Francy Kazadi sealed the deal for the hosts, after scoring to flatten the curve and as the final whistle sounded, the digits on the scoreboard read 2-2, hence sharing spoils.
Following the results, the Singida-based outfits have maximised 19 points similar to Simba, but the latter have a good goal average – 18 against 15 scored by the former in 12 matches.
Elsewhere yesterday, debutants Tabora United punished Mtibwa Sugar 2-1 in an interesting match at Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora.
Two first half goals by Eric Okutu and Ben Nakibinge put the hosts upfront, before a solitary goal from Kassim Haruna who found the back of the net in the 75th minute.
It was Tabora United’s third triumph in the unfolding league campaign and have so far generated 14 points from 10 games.
For Mtibwa Sugar, the slump was another stab in the back, as their win-less demon refuses to detach from them, no wonder they stay glued at the bottom of the pile with just five points in 11 duels.
They have just won one match and succumbed to eight defeats, which is seemingly a poor run by the Morogoro-based side who struggle to make the ends meet.
It is still a big puzzle for Mtibwa Sugar’s Coach Zuberi Katwila to find winning keys in the league, as the marathon to the finishing line intensifies.
