Africa-PressTanzania. REGIONAL Administrative Secretary (RAS) Musa Missale has tasked six district councils to speed up the construction of new classrooms to accommodate 557 Form One students who risk missing out on the 2021 academic year.

Mr Missale said he wanted to see the students joining Form One in February next year.

Out of 30,800 candidates who sat for Standard Seven National Examinations in Manyara Region this year, 22,476 are eligible for joining Form One Next year, equivalent to 97.52 per cent.

Babati Town has excelled in this year’s Standard Seven National Examinations, accounting for 84.33 per cent, followed by Mbulu Town (81.47 per cent).

Simanjiro comes third with 71.83 per cent, followed closely by Kiteto with 71.74 per cent with Mbulu District tailing the region with 68.92 per cent of students eligible for joining Form One next year.

The regional administrative secretary challenged parents to play their part in ensuring students performed well in their studies.

“This can only be achieved if parents and teachers collaborate to ensure schoolchildren work hard and have discipline,” he advised.

This comes a few days after the government announced in Dodoma that 759,706 candidates, who passed exams this year, had been selected to join secondary school education in 2021.

The number is equivalent to 91.1 per cent of the 759, 737 candidates eligible for joining Form One, according to the minister of State in the President’s Office for Regional Administration and Local Government.
