State releases 298bn/- to finance development projects

Africa-PressTanzania. The government has released over 298bn/- to finance implementation of various development projects across the country, the Minister of State, President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government, Ummy Mwalimu said on Monday.

Speaking at the general meeting of the Association of Local Authorities in Tanzania (ALAT) held in Dodoma, Minister Mwalimu said of the amount, 10.9bn/- was commissioned to build dispensaries.

According to the minister, a total of 20.2bn/- was released for the construction of hospitals in three municipalities, with 15.9bn/- disbursed for the construction of laboratories in secondary schools.

Ms Mwalimu said the state released an additional 10.4bn/- for improving structures for public primary schools.

“We have equally released money to support free-education and nearly all municipalities have received funds required to implement development projects,” she noted, hailing President Samia Suluhu Hassan for supporting all sectors.

The minister revealed that the government has also released at least 37.5bn/- for the construction of 150 health centres.

“The president has also instructed that we add 70 more centres, thus enabling all the 214 constituencies across the country to receive funds for the construction of a health centre,” she said
