TABOA calls off strike, bus services to continue nationwide

Africa-Press – Tanzania. The Tanzania Bus Owners Association (TABOA) has announced that transport services will continue as normal following successful talks with the government.

Speaking today, TABOA Secretary General, Priscus John, said the decision comes after the association had earlier threatened to suspend services from April 12 if fares were not increased.

He noted that the Sixth Phase Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan demonstrated responsiveness by dispatching the Minister for Transport, Prof. Makame Mbarawa, who held discussions with TABOA leaders and listened to their concerns.

Following the meeting, TABOA has directed all bus operators across the country to continue providing services as the government works on addressing the challenges raised.

The association has also assured passengers not to panic over a possible transport disruption on April 12, emphasizing that services will be available as usual. Travellers have been advised to plan their journeys and purchase tickets in advance.

TABOA expressed confidence in the government’s commitment to resolving challenges in the transport sector, for the benefit of all stakeholders.
