Africa-Press – Tanzania. A LOCAL logistics company, TAHA Fresh handling Ltd, has won a prestigious East Africa Maritime Award (EAMA) as the best firm in facilitating horticultural exports in Tanzania.
TAHA Fresh Ltd, which is a subsidiary of TAHA Group, has been recognized as the best Clearing and Forwarding Agent in Tanzania, at the second annual EAMA, held in Mombasa, Kenya last Friday, thanks for its persistent innovation and competitive services provision that led to horticulture industry growth in the country.
Recognising and celebrating various companies across the region, EAMA is jointly organised by the Shippers Council of Eastern Africa (SCEA), East African Business Council (EABC), Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade).
The EAMA seeks to foster excellence in service delivery and adoption of best practices; appreciate the exceptional contribution to the industry and regional economies; encourage innovation and healthy competition among regional industry players, and improve the overall performance of the sector.
The TAHA Fresh Ltd bagged the award amidst the stiff competition brought by the companies from across the breadth of the maritime sector, comprising the shipping, ports, services, engineering, and leisure marine industries with operations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
TAHA Group CEO, Dr. Jacqueline Mkindi said it’s encouraging to see Taha Fresh Ltd making its mark not only in Tanzania but the entire EAC freight forwarding industry.
“We’re proud to be writing new chapters about what our future looks like. We thank God for this incredible achievement. My earnest appreciations go to our customers, hardworking staff, and supporters,” Dr Mkindi noted, adding: “We couldn’t have achieved this milestone without a great team.
Special thanks go to all the shareholders who have been instrumental in getting the company off the ground”. TAHA Fresh Handling Ltd General Manager, Mr Amani Temu said his logistic firm has been playing a critical role in absorbing costly and time-consuming cross-border non-tariff barriers to export horticulture produce overseas.
Indeed, TAHA Fresh Ltd offers a wide range of horticultural products export and import services including its flagship airfreight, clearing and forwarding, refrigerated trucking, perishable handling, sea freight from both Dar es Salaam and Mombasa ports.
TAHA Fresh Ltd is slowly, but surely becoming a leading horticulture logistics specialist, which understands and designs solutions for the country’s nearly 800 million US dollars (about 2bn/-) worth nascent industry.
TAHA saw it necessary to strengthen the industry’s logistics services by creating a homegrown company as part of its commitment to reduce transport costs for horticultural growers and shippers in Tanzania.
Indeed, TAHA Fresh Ltd was founded way back in 2008 by TAHA members with an eye of providing reliable, timely, and competitive freight and other logistical services to the horticultural industry.
TAHA Fresh Ltd is an official member of the World Cargo Alliance (WCA) network.
The WCA is the world’s most powerful grouping of independent freight forwarders with more than 6,473 members in 789 cities and ports worldwide.
This implies that TAHA Fresh Ltd is currently part of the 6,473 freight forwarders who are present in over 190 countries worldwide.
As if that was not enough, the company is also a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and International Federation of Freight Fowarders Association (FIATA).
This is yet another milestone to the horticultural farmers in Tanzania as they will enjoy reliable and competitive services from multiple global freight forwarders across the world.
