Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG) has seen an increase in its 2025/26 budget by over 1.66tri/-, according to a budget presented in Parliament on Tuesday by Minister of State Mohamed Mchengerwa.

Minister Mchengerwa said the budget tabled is for scaling up development at the grassroots level through strengthened local government services and infrastructure.

The Ministry proposed a budget of 11.783 tri/- for the 2025/26 financial year, marking a significant rise from the 10.125 tri/- allocated in the current financial year.

The proposed budget, presented in Parliament on Tuesday by Minister of State Mohamed Mchengerwa, reflects an increase of over 1.66tri/- aimed at scaling up development at the grassroots level through strengthened local government services and infrastructure.

Out of the total amount, 3.95 tri/- is earmarked for development projects, with 2.5 tri/- coming from domestic sources, 613.44bn/- of which will be generated by local government authorities.

The remaining 1.45 tri- will be sourced from external funding.

The remaining 7.84 tri/- is allocated for recurrent expenditure, comprising 6.3 tri/- for salaries and 1.53 tri/- for other operating costs.

Of the non-salary operating costs, 1.067 tri/- will be financed through local government internal revenues.

“We are not merely tabling revenue and expenditure estimates. We are laying down a roadmap of hope, a blueprint for development, and a pledge of responsible leadership,” said Mr Mchengerwa.

He reiterated that TAMISEMI is not chasing political popularity, but rather working to find tangible solutions to the real-life challenges facing ordinary Tanzanians.

With a call for unity and collaboration, Mr Mchengerwa urged all regional authorities, local government bodies, and citizens to embrace teamwork in the country’s development journey.

“With this commitment, and with great confidence in the vision of Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, we present this budget as a tool for action, a vision of hope, and a weapon for administrative, economic, and social transformation,” he said.

He concluded with a firm declaration: “TAMISEMI is the foundation of sustainable development. Every shilling has a duty. Every leader has a responsibility. Every citizen has a role!”
