Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Tanzanian government said it must enact and amend its laws to make them align with the National Development Vision 2050, whose main goal is to make Tanzania an upper-middle-income nation.
The Attorney General of Tanzania, Hamza Johari, who chaired a meeting of the Government Legal Team to conduct a strategic review of legal matters, including the provision of legal services, prosecution operations, and the issuance of legal decisions, revealed it in Dar es Salaam today when opening of the 9th meeting of the Government Legal Team in Dar es Salaam.
The Attorney General said the meeting is specifically intended to discuss a strategic legal analysis and forecasts concerning the delivery of legal services, prosecution management, and the issuance of legal decisions, all with consideration for the broader national interest.
He emphasized the importance of continually updating legal responsibilities to align with the implementation of the National Development Vision 2050. This vision includes principles such as unity, human dignity, human rights, democracy, the protection of natural resources, and the preservation of national culture and values.
“For the National Development Vision 2050 to be effectively implemented, laws must be enacted and amended to align with the country’s goals of becoming an upper-middle-income economy,” said Johari.
In addition, the Attorney General called on the participants of the meeting to provide views and recommendations that will enable the legal sector in the country to contribute positively to national development and help achieve the goals of the Development Vision 2050.
The Government Legal Team meeting involves the Ministry of Constitution and Legal Affairs and various institutions that provide legal services in the country, including the Office of the Attorney General, the Office of the Attorney General of Zanzibar, the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Drafts man, the Office of the Solicitor General, the National Prosecution Office, the Law Reform Commission, the Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA), and the Judiciary.
