Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has said that his visit to Belarus, the first high-level visit since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1996, has opened a new chapter of cooperation in strategic areas beneficial for both Tanzania and Belarus.

The Prime Minister made the statement when addressing journalists in Minsk, Belarus, after his official talks with his host, Belarus Prime Minister Alexander Turchin, on Tuesday.

He said the signing of four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in the areas of political consultations, agriculture, education, and trade, which resulted from the visit, is a clear indication of the countries’ political will to work together to develop the abundant resources blessed by God.

Additionally, the Premier said that following Belarus’s significant progress in sectors such as agriculture, education, ICT, health, energy, industry, and tourism, he urged his host to persuade major companies in these fields to invest in Tanzania.

Emphasizing his call, Mr Majaliwa said that the investment environment in Tanzania is favorable due to various improvements made by the government in investment policies and laws, infrastructure, and fiscal incentives.

He also emphasized the strong market assurance stemming from Tanzania’s geographic location and its membership in the East African Community, Southern African Development Community, and the African Continental Free Trade Area, which collectively represents a population of over 1.6 billion people, making Tanzania an ideal investment destination.

The Prime Minister and his delegation had the opportunity to visit a pharmaceutical and medical equipment factory and a tractor manufacturing plant to observe how these industries use modern technology to produce quality products, where the management of the industries agreed to cooperate with Tanzania and promised to visit the country soon to explore investment opportunities.
