Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA will be represented by four swimmers at the World Aquatics Short Course Championship scheduled in China in December this year.

The four envoys are set to be identified from the Tanzania National Club Championships (TNCC) expected to conclude today, April 12, 2026, at the International School of Tanganyika (IST) in the city.

The three-day contest, which is also used as a qualifying platform for the World Aquatics, has drawn 16 swimming clubs of which 14 clubs are from the mainland, one club from Zanzibar and the other from Kenya.

Collins Saliboko, a decorated Tanzanian swimmer, is among the swimmers battling hard in the unfolding TNCC in order to get an opportunity to be selected to represent the nation at the World Aquatics.

“So far so good…I am doing my best to perform well and record a personal best, and I have a total of seven events to compete during this contest,” he said.

Adding, Saliboko pointed out that despite the pouring rains in the city, it has not disrupted them in any way as everything is progressing on schedule.

However, swimming is making strides in the country bearing in mind that Tanzanian swimmers are actively taking part in major aquatic competitions being held in different parts of the world.

The country is also set to deploy envoys at the upcoming 2026 Africa Aquatics Swimming Championships set from May 5 to 10 in Algeria.

Again, Tanzanian swimmers will fly the national flag high through the 2026 Commonwealth Games, also known as Glasgow 2026, scheduled from July 23 to August 2.

As such, credit should be given to the Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) for clearing the exposure path to Tanzanian swimmers who are enjoying their presence in main competitions.
