Africa-Press – Tanzania. Global investors have been invited to take advantage of the various investment opportunities in Tanzania due to the concerted efforts put by the government in improving the investment climate.
The plea was made recently, by the Zonal Manager of the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) Mr Daud Riganda shortly after disembarking from Mount Kilimanjaro Mr Riganda was one of the Tanzanians who climbed Africa’s highest peak as part of the 60th anniversary Independence of Tanzania.
“Tanzania is the safest place and most potential for anyone to come and invest and this has been proved by the peace which the country enjoys after 60 years of its (country) existence which we are celebrating this year”, he said.
Since countries in the world are scrambling for few investors by offering them friendly conditions.
Global investors have many choices to channel their investments and thus to win their attention we should work hard to further improve the business environment.
It is from this backdrop that the government has resolved to create an enabling investment climate by investing more in new infrastructures, removing red tapes and improving the regulatory environments.
So far, the government has invested heavily in various infrastructure projects including roads, energy, railway, purchase of new planes and building several structures to strengthen investment.
The government efforts to improve investment climate have started to pay off as the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) statistics show the number of new projects registered between April to June this year was 84, which is equivalent to a 68 per cent increase compared to the 50 recorded in a similar period last year.
“The doors are open for anyone who wants to come and invest in Tanzania, especially in the tourism sector due to the fact Tanzania ranks one of the countries worldwide which has the best tourist attractions,” he said.
Mr Riganda continued to say that TIC would continue to raise awareness concerning the stability and the resources found in the country to attract more investors.
“Our (TIC) 60th independence anniversary special message to the world is; Tanzania is safe, has enough resources and stability, come and invest,” he noted.
He said several areas are worthy of investing, which he mentioned as the agricultural, fishery, tourism and agricultural produce value adding industries, to mention but a few.
“We have called upon investors to come to Tanzania to invest in Tanzania as the environment allows them to do that; we also appeal to local potential investors to come to TIC and get advice on how they can invest and contribute to the national economic growth,” he added.
The Investment Center (TIC) was officially established in 1997 after the enactment of the investment law, whereby it has so far played a key role in promoting investments in the country, including promoting, coordinating and facilitating investment projects for both local and foreign investors.
“While we celebrate 60 years of independence TIC boasts of its contribution in the availability of new job opportunities as well as the well-being of the national economy in general”, he said.
Speaking during the occasion, the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) Information and Communication Officer Ms Augustina Makoye commended the participants who took part in this year’s Uhuru celebrations Mount Kilimanjaro climb.
“May I take this opportunity to appeal to you all to continue with this trend by visiting the other tourist attractions found in the country; by doing so it will mobilize other Tanzanians to visit the areas and therefore improve the country’s local tourism sector”, she said.
This year’s climb was organized by the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) in collaboration with the ZARA Travel Agency, whereby it attracted participants from various public and private institutions, including TANAPA itself, the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF), Tanzania Tourism Board (TTB), Tanzania Forests Services (TFS), the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA), NBC Bank and some journalists based in both local and foreign media houses.
