Tanzania Launches New Management Policy for Public Resources

Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan is set to officially launch the National Supply Chain Management Policy on April 8, 2026, in a move aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and efficiency in the use of public resources.

The launch is expected to take place at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre.

According to the Acting Commissioner for Public Procurement Policy at the Ministry for Finance, Alex Haraba, the policy will establish a comprehensive framework to manage all supply chain activities in the public sector from needs assessment and procurement to storage, distribution and disposal of assets addressing longstanding gaps caused by the absence of a unified policy guideline.

The Ministry for Finance noted that the policy also emphasizes the use of technology, greater participation of the private sector and inclusion of special social groups, steps expected to expand economic opportunities and create jobs for Tanzanians.

Additionally, he said it promotes the use of local resources and raw materials to add value and boost the growth of domestic industries.

The government expressed confidence that effective implementation of the policy will enhance fiscal discipline, curb resource wastage, improve efficiency in development projects and ultimately strengthen public service delivery while supporting the country’s long-term development goals.
