Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan commended the significant strides made by Tanzania’s defense and security forces in maintaining peace, promoting national well-being, and ensuring public safety.

The President emphasized the government’s continued commitment to equipping and modernizing security institutions across the country. She also called on the police force to intensify their efforts in addressing emerging challenges, particularly abductions and cases of missing persons.

One of the key areas of investment has been in the Tanzania Police Force, where the government has constructed 472 new police stations to improve access to law enforcement services across the country.

Among the drives initiated are improvements in police housing infrastructure, aiming to improve the welfare and morale of officers.

The government also procured new vehicles and motorcycles to boost operational efficiency, enabling a timely response to incidents.

Also among the remarkable achievements is the employment of 16,000 new officers, including personnel from the National Service (JKT) and Police to increase manpower and bolster public safety efforts.

The government has also invested heavily in the Prisons Unit in order to improve correctional services and align them with modern standards and that include, the construction of 8 new prison facilities to address overcrowding and improve conditions for inmates.

The government has also established regional Referral Prison hospitals to enhance healthcare services for inmates.

The Tanzanian government under Samia’s presidency has implemented the e-Judiciary system in 66 prisons in order to streamline judicial processes and improve access to justice.

Emergency response capabilities have been significantly improved through the construction of three new fire stations in various regions.

Also implemented include the procurement of 12 fire trucks and 2 rescue boats to strengthen the response to fire and water-based emergencies.

The immigration sector has also seen major advancements, with the recruitment of 2,100 new personnel to improve service delivery and border security.

Additionally, the government has established the Raphael Lubaga Training Institute, a new facility dedicated to training immigration officers and enhancing institutional capacity.

These comprehensive investments demonstrate the government’s unwavering focus on national security, safety, and the welfare of its citizens. Under President Samia’s leadership, the defense and security forces continue to play a pivotal role in maintaining Tanzania’s peace and stability.
