The Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Tanzania, Ivan Lančarič, has held talks with the Acting Director of the Europe and Americas Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ellen Maduhu, in a meeting aimed at strengthening diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions took place today, April 14, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, where Ambassador Lančarič expressed his appreciation to the Ministry for effectively coordinating a series of high-level meetings he had requested. These included engagements with senior government leaders such as the President of Zanzibar, the Prime Minister, and the Minister for Planning and Investment—interactions he said had enhanced mutual understanding on development and cooperation priorities.

The two sides also discussed preparations for the upcoming visit of the Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs, expected in June 2026. The visit is viewed as strategically important in accelerating economic, political, and social relations between Tanzania and Slovakia, particularly within the framework of development diplomacy and investment partnerships.

The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Tanzania was officially opened in November 2025, marking a new phase of direct diplomatic engagement. Before that, Slovakia was represented through its embassy in Nairobi. Ambassador Ivan Lančarič is the first resident ambassador to Tanzania since the establishment of the embassy.
