Africa-Press – Tanzania. The Tanzania Scouts Association (TSA) expects to register a total of four million scouts by 2023.
Speaking at the State House in Dodoma on Saturday, Chief Scout Mwantum Mahiza said the registration process was underway.
“The Associations goal was to register 3 million scouts by 2020, what failed us was the lack of database and funds. “Currently the system has been improved and we expect to register about four million scouts by 2023” the Chief Scout said
However she said that the number of Scouts in the country has increased 150,000 in 1995 to 800,000 in the year 2020.
“Scouts deal with who age from 5 to 26 years. This group is large and according to the national census conducted in nearly 10 years ago, 60 percent of the country’s are youth….They need to be nurtured in a transparent, honest and ethical environment,” she she insisted.
