Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIANS will experience power outages starting February 01 for at least 10-days as the state owned utility firm–Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) moves to undertake major rehabilitation work at its Kinyerezi I and Ubungo III power generating plants.
Tanesco’s Managing Director, Maharage Chande announced in Dar es Salaam on Friday that the utility firm will produce a clear schedule of power rationing to allow users to plan ahead.
He said the works on Kinyerezi I and Ubungo III will double power production to 335megawatts from 150 megawatts. Tanzania’s current power production is 1,600megawatts and authorities have been working on the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project that will produce 2115 megawatts.
