Africa-Press – Tanzania. NBC Premier League radio broadcasting rights holders – Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) and Star Media Tanzania Limited have signed a one-year contract to broaden an audio coverage of the league.
The deal means subscribers of Startimes will have access to listen live to radio broadcast of the league for the entire season thereby expanding its coverage to many people across the country.
Speaking yesterday during the signing ceremony, Market and Content Director at Startimes Juma Sharobaro said the partnership with TBC will help a lot to promote football coverage in the country.
“This is a big opportunity for us to work with TBC and be part of football enhancement whereby our customers will be listening to live audio commentary of premier league matches. “We have a big family of up to two million people who will be having good times to follow radio coverage of the league in the comfort of their homes,” he said.
He then disclosed that Startimes customers will get access of the league audio broadcast via TBC FM available on channel 991 and TBC Taifa placed on channel 992 for both antenna and dish decoders.
Again, Sharobaro pointed out that the audio service will also be available to their customers through Startimes On App hence he urged Tanzanians to grab this opportunity with both hands by getting Startimes decoders.
On her part, TBC Director of Sales and Marketing Daphrosa Kimbory said the partnership with Startimes with aims to broaden audio coverage of the league, is a step forward to ensure that nobody is left behind as far as enjoying live football radio commentary is known.
“Football is a source of entertainment to many people and it is our responsibility to make sure that we stretch the listening area to accommodate as many people as necessary. “We therefore call upon other media platforms which are willing to join us in audio broadcast of the league to do so since our doors are open for extra partnerships,” she said.
Kimbory then seized the chance to alert some media outlets which are doing radio coverage of the league without their consent to stop at once or else they will be penalised according to the regulations.
On August 3rd this year, TBC signed a ten-year contract worth 3.54bn/- with the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) strictly for radio broadcast of the league meaning that other platforms interested to access audio coverage of the league should be certified by TBC.
