Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Tanzania Cricket Association has officially announced its squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub‐Regional Africa Qualifier B, scheduled to take place from March 22-30, this year, in Accra, Ghana.

The tournament forms part of the qualification pathway toward the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with regional teams competing for a place in the next stage of the global competition.

Leading the Tanzanian side is captain Kassim Chete, who will be expected to guide the team with both experience and leadership as the country seeks to strengthen its position in African cricket.

The squad features a blend of experienced players and emerging talents who have shown promise in domestic and regional competitions.

According to the TCA Chairman Dr Balakrishna Sreekumar, among the key players named in the team are Ajith Augustin, Ally Hafidhi, Ally Kimote, and Arun Yadav, all of whom are expected to play important roles in the squad’s campaign.

Other members of the squad include Dhrumit Mehta, Ivan Selemani, Khalidy Juma, a national Men’s Under 19 captain Laksh Barkania, Mohammed Mbaki, Mukesh Maker, Mohamed Kitunda, Raymond Emanuel, and Yalinde Nkanya.

The team will be guided by head coach Mugammad Salieg, who will work alongside assistant coach Riziki Mohamedi. Team operations will be overseen by manager Ashish Dilip Maniar, completing the technical and administrative staff responsible for preparing the squad for the upcoming challenge.

Sreekumar stressed that the squad selection reflects the players’ recent performances, discipline, and commitment to the national team programme.

“Preparations for the tournament are expected to intensify in the coming weeks, with the team focusing on improving both batting depth and bowling consistency.”

The Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier B tournament will feature several emerging cricket nations from across the region, making the competition both challenging and crucial for teams aiming to advance in the World Cup qualification pathway.

For Tanzania, the tournament represents another opportunity to showcase its growing cricket talent on the continental stage.

Over the past few years, Tanzanian cricket has continued to develop steadily, with increased investment in youth programmes and domestic competitions helping to build a stronger national side.
