Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with three institutions aimed at utilising opportunities available and promoting trade within and outside the country.
Speaking at the signing ceremony held recently in Dar es Salaam, TCCIA President, Paul Koyi said the MoU was signed between TCCIA and Zanzibar National Chambers of Commerce (ZNCC), Tanzania Saccos for Women Entrepreneurs (TASWE) and Association of Tanzania Oil and Gas Service Providers (ATOGS).
Mr Koyi pointed out that, TCCIA would collaborate with ZNCC to help remove trade barriers between traders in Mainland and Zanzibar.
Zanzibar National Chambers of Commerce (ZNCC) Chairman, Mr Ali Suleiman Amour said, the private sector organisations have a great contribution to the national economy through taking part in regional markets.
Adding to that, TCCIA partnership with TASWE will remove barriers when doing trade activities with foreign countries.
Vice Chairman of the Association of Tanzania Oil and Gas Service Providers (ATOGS) Mr Abdulsamad Abdulrahim said that, the MoU would enable to work closely with TCCIA in providing education on opportunities available in oil project to the citizens, businesses and manufacturers and contribute to the national development.
He said that, it would also help the increase of Tanzanians participation in the oil and natural gas extraction industry.
The 2015 National Energy Policy encourages the participation of Tanzanians in the oil and natural gas sector thus the establishment of ATOGS has been of great help in the implementation of the policy as well as strengthening the participation of Tanzanians in the sector.
TCCIA works closely with different international organizations for some of its activities to strengthen the private sector in the country and also works closely with the government for the same objective.
TCCIA is the sole country member of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Tanzania, a member of East Africa Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (EACCIA), Pan African Chamber of commerce and Industry (PACCI) and East African Business Council (EABC).
