Africa-Press – Tanzania. DAR ES SALAAM: The government has appreciated efforts done by the Tanzania Education Network (TEN/MET) in scaling up education standards in the country.
Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Education, Science and Technology Dr. Franklin Rwezimula said this at the closing ceremony of the 3rd International Quality Education Conference (IQEC) in Dar es Salaam recently.
“They are always available to support the government on the right path to go in order to attain intended goals…they also provide feedback on the areas that needs to be improved.
“We use their recommendations and this conference has come up with different proposals of which many are vital and we are going to work on them,” Dr. Rwezimula said.
He added: “The world education system is very competitive in nature, you cannot hide and prepare your own education policies… competitive education should go at par with the 21st century.
“You need to look if you are able to produce competitive students ready to compete at the job market and those who can employ themselves,” he noted.
On her part, TEN/MET Board Chairperson Faraja Nyalandu conceded that the targets of the third edition of IQEC have been realised.
“We have looked at different critical areas in terms of what needs to be done to propel education in the technology changing world.
“I believe that what we have discussed will be implemented well for the betterment of the education sector,” she said.
