Africa-Press – Tanzania. TEN overseas universities representatives are in the country to look for opportunities of their products to Tanzanian students and look for joint ventures with local universities on provision of education in different profession.
The eight universities which come from India and two from Ukraine are in the country under the umbrella of Global Education Link (GEL) to attend one week universities exhibitions organised by Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU).
The five days exhibitions which started yesterday (Monday) involve different universities, higher learning institutions and financial institutions will officially opened today at Mnazi Mmoja grounds in Dar es Salaam.
GEL Director, Abdulmalik Mollel mentioned overseas universities that attend the exhibitions as Chandigarh, Lovely Professional University (LPU), CT, Maharish Makandeshwar, Pandeet Deendayal Energy, Sharda, Rayat Bahra vya India na VN Karazan na Sum State vya Ukraine.
Mollel said some of overseas universities have promised to sign MoU of collaboration with local university and open up their campus after they have seen opportunities of the high demand of their courses. Mollel said the coming of the overseas universities is a great opportunity to local universities because they should look on how they can collaborate in education provision including exchange programs for their students.
“Example student can study two years here in Tanzania and finish in India, Ukraine of wherever outside the country and student from India or Ukraine can study one or two years and come in Tanzania to complete his or her studies so Tanzanian universities should take this as great opportunity for them,” he said He said it is opportunity for overseas universities also to look for high demand courses which are not available in our universities here in the country and open their campus to fill the gap.
Representative of Maharish Makandeshwar university of India, Rashmi Garg told this paper that in a short span of two decades, the university has grown into one of the most reputed education groups in the country which takes pride in its state of the art infrastructure as well as expert faculty.
