Africa-PressTanzania. TANZANIA Football Federation (TFF) has signed a three year sponsorship deal with the National Bank of Commerce (NBC) and the bank has poured in 2.5bn/- excluding VAT for the 2021/22 season.

The contract means that from yesterday, the Premier League has been branded NBC Premier League for the next three years thereby giving the much needed value of the most popular sport discipline in the world. However, the sponsorship package for the other two years was not disclosed pending on the talks which the two parties will be having time after time.

In his opening remarks, NBC Managing Director Theobald Sabi said high reputation of the country’s league is what drove them to come aboard and bankroll the contest.

“As you know, our league has potential to attract high class players from outside the country like Zambia, Malawi and other nations something which clearly indicate that it is growing. “We are therefore determined to be part of helping to uplift football standards in the country throughout the period when we will be at the helm of sponsorship,” he said.

Moreover, the NBC boss narrated that the other factor which attracted them to resume the title sponsorship role of the league is the position eighth accommodated by the country’s league on the continent. He added that Tanzania is also among the 12 countries in Africa with the privilege to deploy more teams in CAF interclub games a thing he said has been highly contributed with the good performance of the league.

“All these factors have propelled us to come forward and sponsor the league. It is my belief that football standards are therefore going to continue moving up for the benefit of the country,” said him.

On his part, TFF President Wallace Karia said they will ensure that the sponsored amount is channeled to do its intended work in order to win trust of the sponsors.

“Much part of the sponsorship will go a long way to help clubs solve their logistics problems and simplify their movement from one point to another as such, we are grateful for this timely sponsorship,” Karia said.

He also pointed out that under his leadership, more sponsors will continue to descend at the federation to finance various development agendas for the sake of developing the country’s football.

Again, the TFF boss said good governance and transparency are some of the key sponsorship attraction ways implored by his administration to win as many sponsors as possible.
