TANZANIA Forest Services (TFS) has strengthened its leadership chain following the promotion of three of its staff to the level of Senior Assistant Commissioners by the Agency’s Chief Executive Officer, Prof Dos Santos Silayo, in recognition of their contribution to the protection and supervision of forest resources in the country.
The promoted officers are Mr Mathew Ntilicha, who was Senior Conservator and Acting Eastern Zone Commander, Ms Getruda Nganyagwa, Senior Conservator and Acting Southern Highlands Zone Commander and Mr Emmanuel Laizer, Senior Conservator and Acting Chief Internal Auditor.
Speaking at the recent ceremony held in Morogoro Town, Prof Silayo urged the Senior Assistant Commissioners to perform their duties in accordance with Public Service guidelines, laws and ethics, stressing that the positions require strong leadership skills and integrity.
“Being promoted is a good thing, but it also comes with increased responsibilities. The government expects you to fulfil your duties faithfully. Our work is to protect the nation’s resources, which is very important for the country’s economy and the environment,” he emphasised.
Prof Silayo also called on the new TFS staff who have completed basic training to exercise discipline and adhere to Public Service ethics as they begin implementing their duties.
Speaking at the closing of the training in Morogoro, he reminded the new staff to aim at increasing efficiency in their work while respecting professional ethics.
He added that TFS is continuously improving its systems to enhance transparency, accountability and creativity in its operations, for the benefit of the people and future generations.
