Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE third edition of CDF Trophy has been labeled a huge success by the winners of various categories who played as the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) staff.
The club’s Information Officer Selemani Semunyu and the soldiers who excelled in in the tournament were applauded for their parts in making it a sky-high success in terms of mileage, publicity and prizing.
The huge success of the tournament was officially stated by the TPDF Chief of Staff, Lt General Mathew Mkingule during the prize-giving ceremony to award the winners of various categories at the club in Dar es Salaam over the weekend.
“Congratulations to Captain Semunyu. If you do not know, his skills began to be seen running for 45 minutes on ITV and now we are proud to have someone of his kind,” said Mkingule.
He said that they are aware of his capability and professionalism we have been seeing in his role in promoting TPDF and the country as a whole through the media.
“Due to his expertise and efforts to promote the army and the country especially in sports, he will report to the CDF a report of good work being done in parallel with the Soldiers golfers who won trophies in the tournament.”
Mkingule also congratulated the TPDF staff from Lugalo club who won the tournament as he said it showed how committed they are to the sport.
“The winners represented well the army and they have done a great for TPDF and they should be commended along with the club’s Chairman, Michael Luwongo for upbringing them to the higher level in the game,” added Mkingule.
Additionally, Mkingule said TPDF is in process to construct a modern golf course in in Dodoma that will include a five-star hotel to provide an opportunity for players to find a comfortable place to rest when they go to play.
“We have already formed a team for the construction of the course, there are three areas that have been identified, we are in the process of conducting a feasibility study, but we ask Lugalo to help us find experienced players who will join the team to identify the construction site,” he added.
He also stressed that the army is making an important effort to involve allied forces in different countries to get support for the construction of golf courses in other regions such as Arusha and Iringa in the Mafinga area.
He also said that the club is ready to create experts who will teach the game wherever it is needed
