Africa-Press – Tanzania. A call has been made to NBC Premier League teams which began the campaign on a snail pace to amicably use the ongoing FIFA international break to polish up before the league resumes.
This was said on Tuesday by a well-known coaches’ trainer under the umbrella of Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) John Simkoko who appealed to leaders and players of such clubs to shift into top gear.
“This is the best time for teams which have had a poor start of the season to analyze themselves and correct all the problems which compelled them to launch their campaign negatively.
“Undoubtedly, the season is tough and most teams did not engage in enough friendly matches before the start of the campaign as such, I think this is the best time for them to play friendly matches while hoping to have a fresh start upon its resumption,” he said.
So far, only five teams in the league are yet to smile to their first three points as the win-less demon refuses to walk away from them a problem which need to be fixed as early as possible.
They are Coastal Union, Mtibwa Sugar, Geita Gold, KMC and Tanzania Prisons which still struggle to get the right rhythm of dancing with the NBC Premier League beat.
Coastal Union are 12th on the ladder with four points garnered from four draws and have succumbed to one defeat in the process. To make it worse, the Tanga based giants have just scored one goal in their five appearances.
Recently, the club was forced to come open to refute claims that they have parted ways with their American coach Melis Medo who replaced then Head Coach and now Technical Director Juma Mgunda.
Likewise, the Morogoro based Mtibwa Sugar are also in the category of struggling teams so far in the contest as they too are yet to pocket maximum three points despite playing five games.
Their Head Coach Joseph Omog who has vast experience in the premier league having coached the reigning champions Simba at one point of his career is yet to find the winning clue.
The same applies to debutants Geita Gold and KMC located at 14th and 15th slots on the table with two points apiece.
Geita Gold who made headlines of becoming the first side of the season to go separate ways with their former trainer Ettiene Ndayiragije are still hunting to pocket first win of the league with Felix Minziro who drove it into the top flight league at the helm of the club.
Tanzania Prisons are the current gate keepers of the unfolding campaign as they sit on 16th place without registering any victory and scoring just one goal from five encounters.
