Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA Swimming Association (TSA) needs 136m/-to enable the national swimming team to compete in the African Zone three Championships (CANA 3 ) in Kampala, Uganda early next month.
The amount would be used to facilitate the trip of 26 swimmers and five officials to lead the team to Kampala.
Speaking with The Daily News on Saturday, TSA secretary-general, Inviolata Itatiro said they are expecting to have 31 athletes in Kampala, but that depends on the availability funds to facilitate them.
She said apart from 26 swimmers, they will have two caches, a manager, and two officials from TSA.
According to her, they need support from sports stakeholders in order to make the swimmers achieve their dreams of competing in the international level championships.
“We need support from stakeholders as our body has no funds to facilitate the swimmers’ trip,” she said.
Swimmers who are forming the national team are Part Motichand, Norbet Godbless, Austin Okore and Christian Fernandes who will compete in boys U-12 while female swimmers are Filbertha Demello, Bridget Heep, Crissa Dilip, Lina Goyayi, and Maryam Ipilinga.
Swimmers who will compete in U-13 and U-14 are Romeo Mihaly, Isaac Mukani, and Nabeel Gahhu who are male while females ate Amylia Chali, Natalia Ladha, and Sophia Latiff.
Others are Delbert Ipilinga, Michael Joseph, Nathan Kagoro, Ethan Almanya, and William Chengula while female swimmers are Ria Save and Eunike Mathayo.
Swimmers who will compete in 17 years and over are Mohameduwais Abdullatif, Aaron Akwenda, Delvin Barick, and Collins Saliboko.
