Africa-PressTanzania. TEACHERS Service Commission (TSC) has called for the observation of professionalism, codes of conduct and hard work among teachers to enable them provide quality education in the country.

That was said over the weekend by TSC Executive Secretary, Ms Paulina Nkwama, while meeting with the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of State in the President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government.

She said TSC is a public entity that deals and addresses teachers complaints, disciplinary issues and hence, having in place a system to assist teachers is of paramount importance to the workforce.

Equally, Regional Administration and Local Government Permanent Secretary, Prof Riziki Shemdoe used the occasion to encourage the public to keep on waiting for the notification on the procedures for employing new teachers. He said the government has not announced the procedures for vacancies requirement thus the public should be aware of conmen putting advertisements that the recruitment has started.

“President Samia Suluhu Hassan directed us to recruit new teachers to fill in the gaps , but we have not issued any statement so far as we are completing some logistics before announcing the posts, so parents and youth should wait for the official government statement and not otherwise. They are setting procedure as well as arrangement on how to go about it,” he added.

Elaborating, Prof Shemdoe said they are working on President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directive on the employment, adding it requires time and keenness to identify the gaps and fields, where the newly employed teachers should fill.

“We must make sure there is a strong system and procedures in place. We need best teachers who are committed in serving the public,” pointed out Prof Shemdoe.

The Permanent Secretary alerted the public that there are fake reports on the recruitment process to fill gaps created by the retirees, dead ones and those who resign, saying: “Some people have been conned on promises that they will get the employment opportunities. He cautioned government officials who work in the ministry to stay away from such illegal practices or get ready to face the music.”

However, he outlined that so far, his office is on the ground to identify schools, which require urgent teachers and their subjects, so that they are staffed as required. Earlier, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the ministry (Education), Gerald Mweli commended TSC for timely hearing and deciding on a number of disciplinary issues submitted to them.
