Africa-Press – Tanzania. Tanzania Women Soccer team Twiga Stars have clinched the 2021 COSAFA Women’s Championship after thrashing their Malawian counterparts 1-0 at Nelson Mandela Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa this evening.
It was Enekia Kasonga who broke the deadlock in the 64th minute after both side failed to convert myriad of chances created in the first half.
Apart from lifting the trophy, Twiga Stars hold unbeaten record in this year’s competition as they sailed to the semifinals with 9 points after securing three consecutive wins in group B.
Meanwhile, the Tanzania under 20 Women team sealed a 2-0 victory over Eritrea in the FIFA under 20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers 2022 at Azam Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Irene Kisisa and Protas Mbunda headed home crucial victory needed by hosts.
