Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIAN golfers produced a spirited and competitive showing at the Sunshine Development Tour (SDT) East Africa Swing Qualifying School, which concluded yesterday at Limuru Country Club in Kenya.

Facing a strong international field, the country’s representatives demonstrated resilience and promise, with several players finishing in respectable positions after three days of intense competition.

Professional Isaac Wanyeche emerged as one of Tanzania’s standout performers, finishing tied for seventh place with a total score of 227.

Wanyeche had looked set to challenge for the title after an impressive start, opening with a 73 before surging with a superb 70 in the second round.

However, a difficult final round of 84 saw him slip down the leaderboard. Fadhil Nkya delivered one of the most consistent performances among the Tanzanian contingent, finishing 10th overall on 228.

Nkya posted rounds of 75, 76 and 77, maintaining steady form throughout the tournament.

In the amateur ranks, Enoshi Wanyeche emerged as Tanzania’s best, finishing tied for 20th overall on 233 after rounds of 76, 79 and 78, placing 10th in the amateur category.

It was, however, a challenging outing for leading amateur Isiaka Dunia, who endured a difficult campaign to finish 32nd overall on 251 (84,78,89).

Other Tanzanian participants included Likuli Likuli and Prosper Emmanuel, who both tied for 33rd place on 255, while Jumanne Ally placed 35th after a tough tournament.

In the ladies’ category, professional Angel Eaton was Tanzania’s sole representative and delivered a commendable effort, finishing second among the women and 27th overall with a total score of 238.

Meanwhile, national team captain Neema Olomi, who had started strongly with back-toback rounds of 76, withdrew before the final round to travel to Royal Nairobi Golf Club in preparation for the 2026 KLGU Open Meeting tournament.

Host nation Kenya dominated the top of the leaderboard, with John Karichu clinching the overall title on 215 (74, 70, 71).

Wasim Ali finished second on 216, while Odek William secured third place on 218. Britain’s Andrew Proctor took fourth position on 219.

The four-day qualifying event attracted 55 players from across East and Southern Africa, as well as Europe, Asia and North America.
