TZ ready to host global beekeepers’ summit-Kairuki

Africa-Press – Tanzania. DODOMA: TANZANIA is ready to prepare all necessary facilities for hosting the 50th global beekeepers’ summit in 2027, the Minister for Tourism and Natural Resources, Ms Angellah Kairuki has said.

The summit will be held in Arusha from September 23 to 27.

Ms Kairuki expressed the country’s readiness recently in special talks with the President of Apimondia Regional Commission for Africa, Mr David Mukomana in Dodoma.

Apimondia is a non-governmental organisation that brings together beekeepers, manufacturers of beekeeping equipment and a wide variety of scientists to exchange information pertaining to apiculture, epitherapy, pollination, development and economics.

Ms Kairuki said government will put in place all necessary preparation including venue for hosting the summit as well as promotion and advertisement in bid of ensuring that all stakeholders are informed.

“I would like to assure you that the government in collaboration with Apimondia will work day and night in bid of realizing that the summit is held smoothly,” she said.

Highlighting the benefit of the summit, she said the summit will act as the platform for creating visibility to various opportunities which the bee economy’s possesses.

In another development, she underscored the government unwavering commitment on diversifying the bee economy in order to create more jobs for citizens including youths.

She said diversification of the bee economy will have profound contribution to the growth of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Furthermore, she used the talks to extend her invitation to President of Apimondia, Dr Jeff Pettis and Mr Mukomana to attend at the incoming Honey Show which will be held in Dar es Salaam from June 19 to 21 this year.

For his part, Mr Mukomana mentioned intensive promotion and advertisement as some of the key areas to consider during the preparation of the summit in order to attract both local and foreign participants.
