Africa-PressTanzania. Vodacom Foundation Tanzania has donated 37.8n/- worth, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment to Jokate Mwegelo Secondary School in Kisarawe District.

Handing over the equipment to Kisarawe District Commissioner Nixon Simon, the Vodacom Foundation Tanzania Vodacom Director of Corporate Affairs, Rosalynn Mworia said the will benefit over 150 students.

“The donation aims at building an inclusive society without discriminating others because of gender, ability, economy or disability,” she said.

She added, at Vodacom, we believe that every individual has unique contributions to the development of society and the right to reap benefits of the country’s economic growth.

Some of the equipment donated included 15 computers, 15 chairs, 15 tables, one television set and a router. The facilities will help in training students on ICTs and acquire vital knowledge on digital technology.

Speaking after receiving the donation, Kisarawe DC Mr Simon thanked Vodacom for the donation that will equip students with ICT knowledge that would otherwise seek it outside the district.

“Our students will no longer have to travel to other parts to seek the ICT knowledge thus helping them to use efficient time for study,” he said.

The donation of the ICT equipment to the school in Kisarawe is the continuation of the Vodacom Tanzania strategies to enhance girls capacities in pursuing subjects like mathematics, science and ICT.

Ms Mworia said further among the major objects of Vodacom Foundation Tanzania are to empower girls and women in education, health, economy and in social aspects.

“Our contribution today concurs with our intention of helping girls and also collaborating with the government in enhancing education in the society,” she said.
