Africa-Press – Tanzania. PUNDITS are optimistic that the cabinet mini reshuffle that was done on Saturday by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, will deliver to the maximum expectations of the appointing authority and the country at large.

Supporting President Samia’s rearrangement on her executive team, the analysts, however, cautioned the appointees to honour the trust that the Head of State has on them, and deliver accordingly.

They were speaking to the ‘Daily News’ following the tweak that President Samia has made on her cabinet and list of Permanent and Deputy Permanent Secretaries.

In the changes that were announced on Saturday by the Chief Secretary Ambassador Hussein Kattanga, President Samia also changed the structure of three ministries.

She merged the Investment that was under the Prime Minister’s Office with the docket of Industry and Trade to become the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade.

The Head of State formed the new Ministry of Community Development, Women and Special Groups and Ministry of Health.

Commenting, pundits said President Samia has done what is right for her administration to run smoothly, and that the new structure will improve efficiency.

According to an Assistant Lecturer at Mzumbe University Jerum Kilumile, since most of the appointees have experience in serving different dockets in the cabinet, then it will be easier for them to deliver.

“Most of the faces are not new in the cabinet, the transferred and new appointment are indeed, focused at improving efficiency, I’m optimistic that they will deliver to the maximum,” he told this paper.

He, moreover, commended the fact that the Head of state has continued appointing a good number of youths with vast experience in politics and other professions.

“But for those who have been transferred and others being promoted must have a good time to evaluate themselves and pull up their speed for effective implementation of the development agenda in their dockets including also putting forward national interest,” he urged.

According to him most of the new appointments may have been selected due to their contributions in the Parliament and that being trusted in the government is a complement for them to continue serving the bigger interest of the country.

For her part, Rachel Yusuph who lectures at the Tumaini University Dar es Salam College (Tudarco) commended the appointment of Nape Nnauye, a new Minister for Information, Communications and Information Technology.

Like Mr Kilumile, Ms Rachel also commended the fact that the younger generation has continued to earn the trust of President Samia in running different dockets.

“President Samia’s move to continue trusting younger generation in the government is something that needs to be commended, she has maintained Mr January Makamba (Energy), Nape Nnauye, Jumaa Aweso (Water) and so many others to the cabinet, I’m sure they won’t let her down,” she noted.

She also called on those who have been dropped from the cabinet to remain loyal and focused, as still they might be recalled in future.

Early last week, President Samia hinted at her plans to reshuffle a list of her appointees, for which, she will sideline members who are aspiring for the 2025 general election.

“This reshuffle will provide a room for those aspiring to go for the 2025 General Election to get enough time to organise themselves. I want to have a team that will support the government,” she said.

In the new appointment, President Samia promoted three deputy ministers, who now become full ministers.

They are Dr Angelina Mabula (Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development), Hussein Bashe (Agriculture) and Hammad Masauni who has become the Minister for Home Affairs; up from his former immediate post of the Deputy Minister for Finance and Planning.

She also recalled Mr Nnauye, Dr Pindi Chana Prime Minister’s Office-Policy, Parliament Coordination, and Anthony Mavunde who has become the deputy minister for Agriculture.

Similarly, Samia appointed Jumanne Sagini (Deputy Minister for Home Affairs), Dr Lemomo Ole Kimuswa (Deputy Minister for Minerals) and Ridhiwan Kikwete (Deputy Minister for Land, Housing and Human Settlements Development) and Mr Atupele Mwakibete (Deputy Minister Works and Transport –Transport Sector docket).
