Africa-Press – Tanzania. AFTER suspending their preseason camp in Morocco, the first batch of Young Africans players is set to jet back in Dar es Salaam today while others will follow, according to the flight schedule.
This was confirmed by the club’s member of registration committee Hersi Said who said initially, they planned to stay in Morocco until August 27th but some players have been called to join their respective national teams.
He mentioned some of the foreign based players who are set to join their national teams as Khalid Aucho (Uganda), Mukoko Tonombe (DR Congo) and goalkeeper Djigui Diarra (Mali).
He also pointed out that the other factor which has forced them to break the camp prematurely is the oncoming ‘Wiki ya Wananchi’ event whose climax will be held on Sunday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
“Generally, we had a good camp and had an opportunity to train with modern equipment. The level of signings we have accomplished so far gives us confidence to do well in the coming season,” he said.
He added that there is a big improvement in the squad they are building prior to the next term saying all the critical areas which needed boost like goalkeeping, defence, midfield and striking departments have been reshaped.
“For instance, Diarra is an outstanding goalie and the technical bench is impressed with his signing. Also players like Djuma Shaban, Yannick Bangala, Fiston Mayele and Heritier Makambo all have Champions League qualities,” he said.
Again, Hersi heaped praises on the domestic signed players like David Bryson and Dickson Ambundo among others, whom he said have high class qualities which is potential to the country.
In another development, Yanga center-back Bakari Mwamnyeto said basing on the new signings which have been accomplished by his side, he is optimistic that they will achieve more next season.
The country’s record champions have tried their best to recruit enough players they think will be proactive to help them win titles in the coming season for both domestic and international clashes.
“I believe that we have a team capable to do well in the upcoming season as we have signed strikers, midfielders and even defenders with whom we will work together to produce success,” Mwamnyeto said.
The weeklong ‘Wiki ya Mwananchi’ campaign was officially introduced over the weekend in Zanzibar where thousands of the club’s members, fans and leaders attended the inaugural ceremony.
On the final day, among other lined up activities, an international friendly match is played to give it a befitting climax and entice their fans who usually throngs the venue.
