Africa-Press – Tanzania. YOUNG Africans have intensified preparations for their fourth round of the Premier League against Azam at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
The two teams meet in a mouth- watering clash with three maximum points on stake for the winner of the tough encounter. This is probably not the best time to face Azam who still have nightmares after they were knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup by Pyramids FC from Egypt as they will approach the encounter to console themselves.
Immediately after the exit in the confederation cup, Azam declared that they will shift all their energy to the top flight league hence the Saturday’s match will determine how serious they are in the progressing league.
To ensure that players do not lose match rhythm, Yanga had an indoor friendly match on Monday at their Avic Camp in Kigamboni against championship side JKT Tanzania which they won 1-0.
The solitary goal was netted by Yusuph Athumani who joined Yanga during the past transfer window and he is among domestic players expected to shine at the club.
However, in his remarks yesterday prior to the match, Yanga’s Spokesperson Haji Manara urged the team’s supporters to build a culture of accepting even defeats saying they are part of football.
“No matter how good our team can be, one day, we will lose a match and when that happens, we should never start to point fingers at each other because losing is part of football.
“Even if we can sign big players like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, we can still succumb to a defeat one day hence we need to be psychologically prepared for any outcome in a football match,” said Manara.
He then described the oncoming Azam match as a derby encounter insisting that they are the real Yanga opponents this season than any other club in the league.
“We respect them (Azam) a lot because they have signed competitive players who are willing to win matches but, we are very prepared to face them and it will be one of the big games of the campaign,” said him.
Again, Manara pointed out that efforts are underway to win new fan base of the club saying they are targeting a group of people who have not yet decided which team to support.
